PAST EVENTS

On December 1st 2009 – Kuna Vijana in conjunction with the slum code group, Afya Kenya and coalition entertainment successfully did an event dubbed SLUMFEST III whose theme was MPANGO NI LIFE. We seek to celebrate the lives of those affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. Those present got to know their status and what role they can play in killing stigma and promoting positive living.

On November 28th and 29th 2009 – Kuna Vijana were part of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament organized by Camp of hope and Orontorio. The tournament seek to raise clothes, shoes and food stuff that would be given out to charity and Kuna Vijana was also one of the beneficiaries of the donations.

On October 20th 2009 – Kuna Vijana, Bone Marrow and the clan visited Jikaze IDP camp in Naivasha. We engaged the ladies aged between 12 years and 26 years old in menstrual education and the gents in talks on drugs and entrepreneurship. We donated Sanitary towels and new panties for the ladies.

On August 29th 2009 – Kuna Vijana visited Jikaze IDP camp in Naivasha. We donated toys, clothes and educational materials. We also engaged them in discussions and guidance and counselling.

On August 1st 2009 – Kuna Vijana took part in a charity event by visiting a children’s home in Machakos (Springs of Hope children’s home).

On July 24th 2009 – We started a Kuna Vijana programme at Kibera coutesy of Pamoja Fm. The programme takes place once a week for 2 hours.

On July 11th 2009 – We visited Jikaze Self help site in Naivasha to do a reconnaissance study so that when we go on the August 22nd to 23rd 2009 we live a mark in their lives and give them a boost as they strive to rise.

On 27th June 2009 – Kuna Vijana in conjunction with CLI, IAP, Afro Global education and KEY-I organized a youth empowerment conference held at KCCT Mbagathi (Multimedia university) which seek to address issues on Youth and development, Youth and peace building, Youth and entrepreneurship, Youth and climate change just to mention a few, The listed were tackled by invited guests with experience and information on the issues .Dr P.L.O Lumumba addressed Youth and peace building. All who attended were issued with certificates of successfully completing the training.

On 24th June 2009 – Connect magazine editors organized a CALL FOR WRITERS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS in conjunction with Kuna Vijana. Talented in writing articles and taking photos took place at the international casino along museum hill in Nairobi.

On 17th June 2009 – Kuna Vijana members took part in a stand up comedy organized by a member ‘Raptcha the sayantist’ It was a stand up comedy in sheng held at the alliance francaise in Nairobi. The turn out was great and the hall was filled to capacity.

On 13th June 2009 to 14th June 2009 – Kuna Vijana organized a stand at the 20th century where members came to officially register by filling a form, attaching a photo and paying 200/- All those who stopped by (including the public) also got to know more about Kuna Vijana.

On 23rd May 2009 – Kuna Vijana members took part in auditions for actors and actresses for upcoming films cast and crew at Kenya National Theatre. Out of the 775 members invited, 365 members attended.

From 11th May 2009 to 15th May 2009 – Kuna Vijana conducted the first C-4-C training in Nairobi where 16 applicants who are members were intensively trained on conflict resolution methods putting emphasis on communication and totally getting rid of violence as a form of addressing conflicts.

On 21st April 2009 – Kuna Vijana members took part in a seminar that strived to equip individuals with the necessary information concerning pursuing further studies in Malaysia facilitated by Swinburne University of Technology courtesy of Afro Global education. The seminar took place in Nairobi at the Afro Global education office along Masaba road next to NIC bank. Out of the 516 members invited, 197 members attended.

On 18th April and 19th April 2009 – A Kuna Vijana members who formed a rock band was performing at Kenya National Theatre. Out of the 700 members invited, 386 members attended. This gave rise to a new rock band formed by 6 members called ‘Last traces of Aiden’.

On 23rd March and 24th March 2009 – Kuna Vijana members took part in a seminar that strived to equip individuals with the necessary information concerning pursuing further studies outside the country majoring on Philippines and China universities. It was at Abdul Rasoul building in Mombasa. The same seminar took place in Nairobi on 25th and 26th March 2009 at the Afro Global education office along Masaba road next to NIC bank. Out of the 504 members invited, 216 members attended.
